Orchard Park isn’t alone – Depew and Tonawanda have also seen a huge spike in car break-ins and thefts.
Over the weekend, Orchard Park Police warned residents to lock their homes and cars, saying over the past 10 days, there have been more than 50 break-ins.
The most recent was on Stonehenge Drive on Saturday, where police saw a suspect and gave chase. They lost sight of the man and the stolen vehicle he was driving, but they later found it burning at the end of Auckland Avenue.
At the same time this is going on, two other suburban police departments are warning of vehicle break-ins.
Depew Police released a warning Monday morning, saying there’s been a rash of vehicle break-ins in the village, including some incidents where the car was stolen.
In the Town of Tonawanda, police are looking for two brothers, 23-year-old Cody Cook and 20-year-old Ryan Cook, who are wanted for breaking into multiple vehicles and have warrants out for their arrest in Buffalo.
And the Erie County Sheriff’s Office is looking for information on a suspect caught on camera going through cars on Keller Road in Clarence.
It’s unclear how many of these incidents are related, but if you have any information on any of them, call your local police department.
