An Olean High School teacher was arrested Friday on sexual abuse and forcible touching charges.
Robert Washington, a special education teacher, was arrested after police received a complaint accusing the 37-year-old of having inappropriate contact with a juvenile sometime during the past three weeks.
The Olean City School District Superintendent confirmed that Washington is a teacher at the school, he was arrested at school on Friday, and he was immediately placed on administrative leave.
According to the Olean High School website, Washington is certified to teach Special Education and Social Studies to students in grades 7-12.
Washington was arraigned on first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony, and forcible touching, a class A misdemeanor. He has since been released under supervision.
