A man was taken to the hospital early Monday morning after police say he was shot right outside of the Lockport Police Department headquarters.
A police officer said he heard gunshots just before 1:30 a.m. as he was leaving the station on Locks Plaza.
Police say the man who was shot had been in the station prior to the shooting.
"At this point we do not know why he was shot," said Detective Captain Brian Wentland, "We are still investigating it and attempting to locate witnesses."
The man was taken to Erie County Medical Center.
Police are not releasing his name or condition.
