Man robbed while walking in University Heights

Police at the University at Buffalo are warning students about a robbery that happened off campus.

Police say on Sunday around 10:30 p.m., the victim and a friend were approached by two teenage men who asked to use the victim’s cellphone. The victim told officers his arms were grabbed by one of the men while the other pulled out a black handgun.

After being struck in the head, the victim told police he gave the men his cellphone and wallet. They then ran off.

Neither the victim or his friend were injured.

Around 3 a.m., Buffalo Police captured both suspects as they tried to sell the cellphone.

University Police remind students to always travel with others and to be aware of your surroundings. Students can always utilize the safety shuttle or other transportation options for a safe ride home.
