Buffalo Police homicide detectives are investigating whether there was foul play before a man was found behind a bar with a fatal head injury.

It happened in the city’s Clinton-Fillmore neighborhood.

An ambulance from America Medical Response was dispatched to the area of South Division Street and Fillmore Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Monday to evaluate a man who had fallen outside.

The 61-year-old man was found by the ambulance crew in the rear of Top Hill Grill located at 109 Fillmore Avenue.

The ambulance crew requested the police after they determined that the man had suffered a severe head injury and had no pulse.  He was was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment where he later died.

7 Eyewitness News found detectives and crime scene technicians logging evidence behind the bar.

A neighbor tells 7 Eyewitness News that the bar was closed Monday night and that the area had been quiet.  She noticed the flashing lights of the ambulance and came out of her home to investigate.  She said the man looked like he was beaten severely.  She and another woman didn't recognize the man as a neighborhood regular.
