A Niagara Falls man has been arrested and charged with assaulting a federal officer.

Probation officers went to 24-year-old Monsuru Giwa's home on November 24 for a search and an officer ordered Giwa to put his hands behind his back. Authorities say as the officer attempted to put Giwa in handcuffs, he broke free, pulling the officer off the porch of the home and onto the ground.

The officer suffered cuts to his legs. Giwa fled the scene an was later caught.

If convicted, Giwa faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
