A man is under arrest after a bizarre incident at a church in Genesee County.
A private mass was being held Friday morning at St. Joe’s Church on East Main Street in Batavia for students of St. Joe’s Elementary and Notre Dame High School. Police say while it was beginning, Daniel Kuczka, 71, came into the church and made inappropriate comments. He was asked to leave.
As students were standing up to receive communion, officers say Kuczka returned to the church and grabbed a juvenile student by the arm, telling the student, “Come with me.”
He escorted the student through the communion line and accompanied the student back to the student’s seat after communion. Kuczka then went and sat in the back of the church.
Staff was notified and immediately called police.
Kuczka was arrested for third degree criminal trespass and second degree harassment.
