A Lackawanna woman was arrested early Saturday morning for Driving While Intoxicated after striking a utility pole in Orchard Park, police say.
According to Orchard Park Police, Michele Hernandez said she swerved to avoid hitting a deer. Police say they gave Hernandez a field sobriety test, which she failed.
Hernandez was then taken into custody and transported back to Orchard Park Police Department, where police say breath test showed she had a blood alcohol content of .14 percent.
Police remained on the scene at Berg and Bieler Road for a few hours after the accident until NYSEG was able to address the unsafe utility pole.
Hernandez is due back in court on May 30th.
