A home care aide is accused of stealing and forging checks from the person she was supposed to be caring for.
Last November, the victim’s daughter approached detectives after discovering several checks had been used to make withdrawals from the account. Detectives met with bank officials and determined the checks had been forged.
On Monday, they took Tonya Penrose, 40, of Silver Creek into custody. Detectives say the home care aide stole the checks and forged them, stealing $5,700.
Penrose is charged with second degree forgery and third degree grand larceny, both felonies.
She is due back in court at a later date.
