A man who was allegedly driving drunk picked the worst possible place to pull over – a toll lane on the Grand Island Bridge.
Deputies say they found Andrew Payton, 33, of Niagara Falls parked in a toll lane and asleep at the steering wheel on Sunday. Payton, who has a prior alcohol-related conviction, is charged with felony DWI.
He’s also charged with operating a vehicle without a mandated interlock device, drinking alcohol in a vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, driving without a license, obstruction of governmental administration, and being illegally stopped on a highway.
Payton was taken to the Erie County Holding Center on $25,000 bail.
