Police in Amherst are investigating two separate, suspicious incidents, both of which involve a man either talking to or approaching middle school girls.
The first happened January 2 around 1 p.m. on Burroughs near Main Street. Police say a man in a small or mid-sized SUV asked a middle-school aged girl a question then motioned for her to approach. She did not. In this incident, the man is described as white, in his late 30s with short dark hair.
The second incident happened Wednesday. Police say a middle-school aged girl was walking into a backyard on Sweet Home Road near Woodcrest around 8 a.m. when a man said something to her, though he never approached her or said anything else. In this incident, the man is described as white, around 50-years-old, 5’5” tall with a small build and grey beard without a mustache. He was wearing jeans, a sweatshirt and a dark Fedora style hat.
Anyone with information about either incident can call Amherst Police at 716-689-1311.
