Police arrest 13-year-old boy after assault at mosque

According to Buffalo Police, a 13-year-old boy assaulted two men with scissors at a mosque on Tuesday, July 25 around 10:30 p.m.

Police say the boy broke into the mosque on Sobieski Street during a prayer service and took approximately $1,500 in cash from collection jars. 

Two men heard noises in the back office, went to investigate, and found the teenage suspect trying to break down a door to escape with money in his hands.

As the two men approached the boy, officials say he stabbed one of them in the right ear and behind the neck and struck the other man in the lip and on top of the head.

The teen is now charged him with assault: with intent to cause physical injury, grand larceny in the 4th degree, burglary in the 2nd and 3rd degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree and criminal mischief in the 3rd degree. 

Police tell us both victims were treated at ECMC.

The boy's identity has not been released.
