U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers say they identified a pilot who flew into Niagara Falls International Airport wanted on a weapons offense warrant out of Maryland.

CBP officers met the private plane when it arrived and arrested the pilot who was turned over to the Lewiston Police, facing extradition to Maryland.

"We continue to work closely with all law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of our citizens," said Acting Port Director Cary Frieling. "These partnerships are essential in ensuring wanted subjects are turned over to proper authorities. Our officers are vigilant in their efforts to expedite legitimate travelers while interdicting criminals."
