You’ve seen the headlines by now saying there’s a nationwide EpiPen shortage, and it’s hit here in Buffalo.

Pharmacies started seeing the shortage around May, and now many shelves are out of it completely.

Pharmacies are out of stock of the life-saving drug, and the manufacturer is saying they won’t see it back on their shelves until the end of August.

Bradley Arthur, is the owner and pharmacist at Black Rock Pharmacy.

He says that although there isn’t a supply there are some options for parents worried about not having the drug for kids heading back to school.

  1. Empower yourself with knowledge: understand how severe your child’s allergy is
  2. Determine whether an over-the-counter allergy treatment could help in an emergency until you’re able to get to a hospital
  3. If the allergy is severe - know where the nearest hospital is and understand time is of the essence.
