A town of Perry woman has pleaded not guilty to the brutal murder of her former friend.

The body of 33-year-old Desirae Withey was discovered in her home on Borden Avenue in Wyoming County in February.

Kira Kastenhuber is facing two counts of second degree murder, burglary and child endangerment charges. Officials say the endangerment charges are due to the fact that the victim's two young daughters were in the home at the time.

Investigators claim 38-year-old Kastenhuber broke into Withey's home on February 7th, then proceeded to beat, strangle and stab the woman to death.

Police believe the murder was motivated by the fact that Withey was dating Kastenhuber's ex-boyfriend. The two women had previously worked together and were friends.

Kastenhuber is currently being held without bail at the Wyoming County jail.
