Perplexity Escape Room is now open at 5888 Main Street in Williamsville. Once you walk up to the third floor you'll find a room waiting for you full of clues and puzzles.

"Basically an escape room is a room that you get locked into and you have to solve various puzzles to get out. Some are mental, some are physical. There's word puzzles, there's numbers. It takes a lot to figure it out," said Josh Gorenflo manager and designer at Perplexity Escape Room.

You'll be locked inside of the room with a group of friends with only 60 minutes to escape. Once inside you're given no hints or clues on how to solve the puzzle to reveal the key that opens the door.

There's one room to escape from right now which is monitored by two cameras used to talk with escape room staff. You can ask for hints if you get stuck, the first is free the rest will cost you two minutes each.

When designing an escape room, nailing down the theme is the first step.

"In this case it's 'Crazy Aunt Gertrude' who's a world traveler and loves cats," said Ross Juzdowski escape room designer.

After that the puzzle design begins, all from the imagination and maybe some inspiration from other other escape rooms around the nation.

Perplexity Escape Room is open 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday it's open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. General admission is $25 and just about anyone can attend.
