"People's Court" Judge Wapner dies at 97

"People's Court" Judge Joseph Wapner has died at the at of 97, according to TMZ.

TMZ says Wapner was hospitalized last week after having trouble breathing. He was taken to his home in West L.A. on Friday under hospice care, until he died Sunday morning.

Wapner was a sensation after the show debuted in 1981. "People's Court" opened the door to other popular TV court shows.

TMZ says before he was a TV judge, Wapner was an L.A. County Superior Court judge for 20 years.
