Parents: Do you trust your babysitter?

Many parents rely on babysitters to raise a family. But if something tragic happens to a child, who is responsible?

7 Eyewitness News legal expert Florina Altshiler says babysitters can be held liable if they are negligent or intentionally harm a child.

But Altshiler says parents are always responsible for the care of their children and they need to choose a reasonable person to watch over their child.

The American Red Cross offers babysitter training for kids as young as 11 years old.

The training teachers prospective babysitters the basics, from how to keep a child entertained to teaching them basic first aid.
