A 94-year-old Buffalo man faced a judge this morning to answer to charges that he tried to kill a maintenance worker at his assisted living facility.

John Tenant pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges in Buffalo City Court.

According to police, Tenant - a resident of Mary Agnes Manor on Porter Avenue - pulled a gun out of the pocket of his walker and fired a shot at a maintenance worker Wednesday morning.

Tenant was scheduled to go for a psych evaluation Wednesday at ECMC. Two AMR paramedics were on the scene trying to convince him to go to the medical center when he opened fire.

One of the paramedic is being called a hero for wrestling the gun away from Tenant. No one was hurt.

It's unclear how he obtained the gun.
