The son of a prominent real estate developer and Buffalo School Board member is condemning his father's recent remarks about President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle.

The Ellicott Development Company posted a formal response to Carl Paladino's remarks on its facebook page Saturday.

The statement quotes the company's current CEO, William Paladino, calling his father's remarks "disrespectful and absolutely unnecessary."

Carl Paladino's comments were printed in the most recent copy of Artvoice. They were made in response to a series of questions the newspaper mailed to prominent Western New Yorkers.

The questions were:

1. What would you most like to happen in 2017?
2. What would you like to see go away in 2017?
3. Who would you like to see run for mayor of Buffalo in next year's election?
4. Should the new $50 million Amtrak station be at Central Terminal or Canal Side?

Here are Paladino's responses as they were emailed to Artvoice:

Several local and state politicians have condemned Paladino for his remarks, including County Executive Mark Poloncarz who called for Paladino to step down from his role on the Buffalo School Board.

The only person who can remove Paladino from the school board is State Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia. There is currently a petition with over 10,000 signatures asking Elia to exercise this power.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo also weighed in, saying in part, Paladino "has embarrassed the good people of the state with his latest hate-filled rage."
