Alleged "Facebook Killer" Steve Stephens was found dead in Erie, Pennsylvania late Tuesday morning.

Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) say he was spotted just after 11 a.m. after a citizen alert. The tip claimed Stephens was spotted near the intersection of Buffalo Road and Downing Avenue in Erie County, Pennsylvania, just less than two miles from PSP Troop E headquarters.

Troopers immediately canvassed the area and found him in his white Ford Focus shortly after the tip was made. Troopers in marked police cars say they began a pursuit that lasted about two miles.

Troopers say they attempted disable Stephen's car by using a PIT maneuver. As the car was spinning, troopers say Stephens pulled out a pistol and shot himself in the head.

No injuries to law enforcement or members of the public have been reported.
