An overnight car accident at the corner of Michigan Avenue and East North Street near City Honors High School left a 21-year-old man from New York City dead.
Police say the man was driving a 2007 Jeep Liberty and was fleeing from police at a high rate of speed after officers tried to pull him over. The chase ended after the Jeep crashed into a pole.
Two passengers in the Jeep were transported to ECMC with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are investigating whether the Jeep was involved in several hit and run incidents prior to the crash.
The man's name has not yet been released.
