Columbus police said a body found near Ohio State is that of a football player missing since Wednesday.
Police said defensive lineman Kosta Karageorge apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, WSYX reported. His body was found in an alley not far from his E. 7th Avenue apartment.
A police report said Karageorge's mother told authorities he has had concussions and spells of confusion. She said he texted a message Wednesday citing the concussions and saying he was sorry if he was "an embarrassment."
The Buckeyes defeated Michigan on Saturday, 42-28. Defensive lineman Michael Bennett said afterward that Karageorge missed practices and that teammates started getting nervous Thursday.
