A 30-year-old Town of Ridgeway man has been arrested in connection with multiple crimes against a female, according to the Orleans County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say the suspect, Gerardo Quiros, allegedly would not allow the victim to leave his home, locked her in a bathroom, smashed her cell phone when she attempted to call police, strangled her and punched her in the head on Saturday.

Deputies say Quiros ran away into a wooded area when they returned to his home. Law enforcement agencies conducted a search of the area, lasting several hours. The search was called off when officials believed Quiros had left the immediate area.

Investigators were able to obtain information on Quiros and he was arrested by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and Lockport Police Monday.

Quiros was arraigned in the Town of Ridgeway Court on several charges including strangulation, criminal mischief, unlawful imprisonment, harassment, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia. Additional charges may be added.

Quiros was taken to jail on $200,000 cash and $200,000 bond.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the Town of Ridgway Court on May 5th.
