Orchard Park police say they received a complaint from a resident on Ventura Drive of a burglary in progress.
Police say the homeowner woke up after being alerted by his barking dog. He woke to find a male intruder inside of his kitchen.
The homeowner told police the man quickly exited through a rear glass sliding door. The suspect made off with a purse containing personal belongings and cash.
Officers were unable to locate the man.
Police are urging residents to keep their vehicles and personal belongings secure. They say there have been a large amount of larceny from vehicle complaints in the past month.
