Ontario man rescued from Niagara Gorge

An injured hiker was rescued Saturday near the Whirlpool Basin of the Niagara Gorge.

Niagara Parks Police say a 56-year-old man, from Brighton, Ontario, Canada, had been hiking with family and friends when he fell and injured his leg.

The injury was non life-threatening, however the man could not exit the Gorge on his own.

Niagara emergency responders, along with Niagara Helicopters rescued the man from the Gorge by helicopter.

He was then taken to the hospital for further treatment.

The man's name is not being released.
