Police release ID of person dead after stabbing in Jamestown

UPDATE: The Jamestown Police are now releasing the name of the victim from the homicide that happened Tuesday evening on Willard Street. 

The victim has been idenitifed as 22-year-old Dylan E. Ownbey. 

Investigators say Ownbey was walking down Willard Street with the suspect prior to the incident when they were seen fighting near the intersection of Willard Street and Peterson Street. 

Police have also received information that a second person may have been in the area and fled down Peterson Street with the original suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.

Original: A man is dead after a stabbing in Jamestown, according to police.

Police Chief Harry Snellings says authorities were called to the 300 block of Willard Street, near Peterson, on a report of a stabbing around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

When police arrived, the 22-year-old male victim was found on the sidewalk.

The victim was pronounced dead at UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital.

According to Chief Snellings, the incident is now being investigated as a homicide.

Police say it was reported that two men were seen walking down Willard Street when the men allegedly began to fight with one another.

Investigators say one of the men reportedly stabbed the other man before running off. The identity of the suspect who ran away is not known at this time.

Police are canvassing the neighborhood and following up on information.
