Fire crews say there were no working smoke detectors in the Newfane apartment where one man died in a fire Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to the home behind 2747 West Avenue around 4:30 a.m. When they got there, they said the apartment was filled with smoke and they weren't able to get in.
Crews from the Miller Hose Fire Company were able to put the fire out. Firefighters then found one man dead in an upstairs bedroom where it appears the fire started.
Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the fire. The victim's name isn't being released until his family is notified.
