Olean man faces multiple charges

Wyoming County Sheriffs say David F. Woods Jr., 46, of Olean assaulted an Attica Police Officer after crashing his car into a ditch Thursday.

Attica Police and Fire Departments responded to Dunbar Road in the Town of Attica for the report of a vehicle in a ditch, upon arrival Woods refused medical attention.

Officials say while waiting for the arrival of Wyoming County Sheriffs deputies, the responding officer was punched in the face by Woods. The officer deployed a taser on Woods and a struggle ensued.

With the help of the responding firefighters, Woods was taken into custody, and was placed under arrest once deputies arrived.

Police say while attempting to place Woods in a Wyoming County Sheriff's patrol car, Woods forcefully kicked the Attica Police Officer's knee, resulting in physical injury.

Woods was taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office where he refused to take a chemical test.

Woods faces a total of 11 charges, including assault in the second degree, resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated.

Woods was arraigned in the Town of Attica Court, bail was set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

Woods is scheduled to reappear in Town of Attica Court on May 7.
