Posted

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Peace Bridge have arrested a man wanted on two felony warrants. Officers say 60-year-old Richard Smith also had $500 in counterfeit money in his car at the time of his arrest.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say Smith made a U-turn at the Peace Bridge on March 29th. He then gave officers a fake name and birth date.

After checking his fingerprints, Smith's true identity was discovered. Smith was wanted on two felony warrants,  a federal warrant for a felon in possession of a weapon, and a warrant from Cuyahoga County, Ohio, for larceny.

During a vehicle search,  officers also discovered $500 in counterfeit U.S. currency, and copies of currency on paper.
Smith was arrested on the outstanding warrants and turned over to the U.S. Marshal's Service. Officers took the counterfeit currency.
