City of Niagara Falls Police Department responded to a call of a two car accident involving a marked police unit Wednesday morning.
Officers say the police car was heading south on Portage Road when it collided with a 2002 Ford Explorer heading east on Pine Avenue.
Witnesses tell officers the police vehicle had its emergency lights and sirens on at the time of the crash.
Police say the 50-year-old driver of the Explorer was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was treated and released.
The officer driving the police car is a six year veteran of the department, according to police. He was also taken to Niagara Falls Memorial hospital. He was also treated and released.
The accident is still under investigation. Officers took statements from several witnesses and it has not yet been determined who was at fault.
