The New York State Police continue to investigate a murder after a partially decomposed body was found was found 39 years ago.

State Police say Jessica Rose Lane's, 66, body was found November 25, 1977 by two deer hunters in a wooded area off Alley Road in the Town of Darien.

Troopers say she was found fully clothed with three fractured ribs, a fractured left elbow and a fractured skull. Police believe her injuries were likely caused by stabbing.

According to officials, Lane was last seen on November 11, 1977 at Williamstown Apartments in Cheektowaga.

Police have still not determined the exact location of the crime. Residents below Lane's apartment say they heard two "thumps" between the hours of 4:00 and 4:30 a.m. on November 12, 1977.

Authorities say Lane lived alone, was known to keep to herself and rarely had visitors.

Troopers say suspects have been developed. However, no arrests have been made to date.

Anyone who may have information regarding this investigation is asked to call Investigator Ron Wilson of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Batavia at 361-1585.
