NY's first pit bull police dog receives award

New York's first pit bull police dog is receiving the ASPCA Public Service Award.

K9 Kiah, as she is called, has laid the ground work for other pit bulls to be come police dogs as well.

She is a graduate of the UniversalK9 program and works with the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department where she is used primarily as narcotics and missing persons detection dog.

Her and her human police partner, also visit schools and various conferences to better educate people on animal shelters and animal rescues.
