The NYS Department of Health has issued an advisory regarding a mumps investigation at SUNY Buffalo.
The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) is advising the public of a mumps investigation at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. SUNY Buffalo has identified two probable and four suspect cases of mumps among students. SUNY Buffalo will be on spring break from March 12 to March 21, 2016. All students and employees who develop symptoms compatible with mumps should contact their healthcare provider immediately to be assessed and limit the potential to expose additional individuals.
The NYSDOH is working closely with the Erie County Department of Health and SUNY Buffalo. The university has issued a notification to all students, faculty and employees and is reviewing immunization records to identify students who are not immune to mumps who may need to either be vaccinated or excluded from school when it resumes.
