New York officials say they plan to crack down on underage drinking at summer concerts.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says enforcement sweeps will occur unannounced this summer at concerts and at places where young adults congregate. The sweeps will be carried out by state and local police, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the State Liquor Authority.
The drinking age in New York is 21. People using fake IDs to purchase alcohol can be arrested and have their license revoked for up to a year.
Sweeps last year were conducted at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in western New York and CMAC in Canandaigua, among other locations. Officials say they will expand this year to Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island and other venues.
