Major changes are coming to a road thousands of drivers use every day in Hamburg.
The New York State Department of Transportation is planning to install a two-way center turning lane on Southwestern Boulevard between Lakeview and Amsdell Roads.
Neighbors have been calling for the state to make changes for years.
In the last three years the state says there have been 136 crashes in this stretch of the roadway.
NYS Assemblyman Sean Ryan says the DOT will use community input to determine the final design for the project.
There is no timetable for when work will begin.
