No early release for woman convicted in a deadly hit and run crash.

The Erie County District Attorney's office says says the Erie County Department of Probation’s Conditional Release Commission has denied a request by 51 year old Gabriele Ballowe for early release from her one-year jail sentence.

On December 22, 2013, Ballowe was driving on Route 5 in Evans when she struck and killed a pedestrian, 52-year-old Barry Moss of Evans, and fled the scene.

She was convicted in December 2016.

Ballowe applied for early release under a program that allows offenders sentenced to a year or less in jail to serve the remainder of their term in the community under the supervision of the Erie County Department of Probation.

The D.A. Released the following staement this morning:

“Ms. Ballowe committed a serious crime and in response to her request, our office vehemently opposed any opportunity for her to avoid serving her full sentence. We commend the Erie County Department of Probation for making the right decision.”
