Niagara Falls Police investigating fatal shooting on 19th street

Niagara Falls Police tell Eyewitness News they responded to 1118 19th St. for a shooting around 3 a.m. Saturday morning.

They found a man dead inside, who they say had been shot in the head at close range.

According to officials, the suspect left the scene and was spotted later by officers. A foot chase ensued and a short while after the suspect was caught in an alley off of Pine Avenue, between 24th and 25th street. 

The victim's name is not being released at this time due to NFPD's ongoing investigation into the incident. 

While formal charges have not been written out for the suspect, he remains in custody.
