The Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center celebrated the opening of a new $4.3 million Cardiac-Stroke Care Unit today.

The nearly 13,000-square foot facility -- a complete care center for patients with cardiovascular disease -- features 23 private rooms, including a physical and occupational therapy facility to encourage faster patient recovery.

A health care delivery system fund financed $2 million of the project's cost. The balance was funded through government, foundation, and individual charitable donations.

"We can now provide the complete continuum of care required to combat the rampant high rates of cardiovascular disease across Niagara County," said President & CEO Joseph Ruffolo.
