Niagara Falls cab driver robbed at gunpoint by passenger

A Niagara Falls cab driver was robbed at gunpoint Sunday morning, according to the Niagara Gazette.

The Niagara Gazette says the cab driver told police he picked up a man in a grocery store parking lot on Portage road around 8 a.m. and was asked to drive to Spring Street.

Once the cab reached its destination, the passenger pulled out a gun and pressed it to the driver's neck, according to article. The suspect demanded money and the driver's cell phone, then tore the microphone from the radio as he left the cab.

According to the article in the Niagara Gazette, the suspect ran to Main Street and the cab driver lost him. The cab driver then drove to police headquarters to report the crime.

The driver described the suspect to police as a 6-foot, 165-pound black man in his 40's wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt.

The suspect ran off with $250 and an iPhone 6, according to the Niagara Gazette.
