Niagara County probation officer arrested for allegedly stealing painkillers

LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) - A Niagara County probation officer has been arrested and arraigned after he allegedly stole prescription painkillers from probationers under his supervision.

According to a statement provided by the Niagara County District Attorney, Matthew Fender was arraigned in Lockport City Court on Wednesday, charged with tampering with public records, falsifying business records, official misconduct and petit larceny.

Further statement on Fender from the District Attorney:

“This matter is pending in Lockport City Court. Our office will evaluate the case with the input of all involved and seek justice through fair application of the law.”
