The NHL Draft is here and so are thousands of hockey fans.
According to the President and CEO of Visit Buffalo Niagara, Patrick Kaler, the weekend is expected to bring in $9.2 million to the area. Kaler said that this estimate is only based on the 11,000 hotel room nights directly associated with NHL teams.
The potential revenue to the area for the weekend is expected to be much higher because of all of the fans coming downtown.
Kaler says the draft is a win for Buffalo, because it will bring in other sporting and entertainment events. If this weekend's out-of-towners enjoy themselves, Buffalo will attract more visitors and the city's economy will continue to benefit.
As the City of Good Neighbors, it shouldn't be too hard to show hockey fans a good time.
