Investigators say at least one shot fired by an NFTA officer hit a suspect during an incident on west Utica Street last week.
NFTA Police say it started with a traffic stop when the driver sped toward the officer. The officer then fired shots at the car and hit 21 year-old Devere Thomas on a finger on his left hand.
Police initially said no one was shot during a news conference last Thursday
The car crashed a few blocks down on Main Street and two men inside were detained. Both the driver and the NFTA officer were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The officer who fired the gun is on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.
Thomas is charged with attempted assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration.
