The Niagara Falls Water Board (NFWB) announced today it has hired a global engineering firm to investigate the recent black water discharge.

The company, AECOM, will evaluate information and operational details surrounding the July 29th wastewater discharge into the Lower Niagara River.

AECOM will also have access to equipment readings, summary reports, and water quality findings.

NFWB Executive Director Rolfe Porter said, "The Niagara Falls Water Board remains committed to ensuring that a discharge of this magnitude and impact never occurs again."

NFWB officials said they will provide updates as information becomes available.
