The New Year is quickly approaching and the tradition continues with the 27th Annual Buffalo Ball Drop and Fireworks display on New Year's Eve.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and organizers of the event tested the ball drop Monday and they said everything is ready for the big night.

Buffalo has  the second largest ball drop in nation. The ball drops from Iskalo Development's Electric Tower in downtown Buffalo.

The ball itself weighs 220 pounds and has 350 LED lights.

More than 50,000 people attend the festivities. This year, the crowds will be joined by musician Caitlin Koch and her band. The ball drop is just part of an exciting night of fun for the entire family.

The weather is expected to be very cold in the teens and windy but no snow so organizers said they are expecting a big crowd. You can get the latest New Year's Eve forecast here.

Channel 7 is a sponsor and will be broadcasting live from the event helping everyone bring in 2015.
