The Silicon Valley company's head of marketing is a born and raised Buffalonian, now working remotely from the Queen City to make Buffalo connections.
"Really when it comes to finding a realtor, an estate planner or someone who is preparing your immigration documents, even a yoga teacher or a physical therapist, you want someone who's recommended by a friend. As native Buffalonians let's make it welcome for people who are moving into Buffalo, into the area and say let's plug you into my network," says Maddy Martin, head of marketing for Recommended.
'Recommended' is a review site for service-based businesses. If you're trying to find a plumber, a realtor, a physical therapist, Recommended offers authentic reviews from your friends and neighbors.
Users must sign up for the site using an existing social media profile, like a Facebook account. This ensures reviews are coming from real people, not bots or the business owners themselves. Business owners can alsso claim their pages and tell customers what they offer. They'll also be offered a platform to book their customers directly from the site.
Recommended targets service-based businesses, because often finding a service-provider can be a big-ticket expense. "It can be really expensive and you want to find someone who's really good at what they do," says Martin. The best way to find a reputable service is to source your friends and family who have had good experiences and that's what the site does.
