The USS Little Rock Commissioning Committee was gearing up for the ship's expected December 8th arrival, but committee member Dan Mecca says that has all changed.
"We got word recently, as recently as yesterday, that the ship will be arriving four days early ... on December 4th at 9AM."
When you make your trip down to see the new Little Rock, you can expect to see the roads inside of Canalside closed to traffic, as well as some enhanced security measures.
"Because it is an active Navy Warship, Canalside will be a secure area," says Mecca. "The perimeter will be secured and people should expect to go through an airport type TSA screening."
The commissioning ceremony will take place on December 16th, and organizers say they expect more than 9,000 people to attend the official ticketed ceremony, with thousands more coming down to see the ship during its stay.
