The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority will receive almost $650,000 from the federal government to continue its study of expanding the Amherst-Buffalo transit corridor.

The federal grant comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the money will be used to support the continued study of extending NFTA services from Canalside downtown all the way out to the CrossPointe Business Park, including both the University at Buffalo north and south campuses. The growing Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus will also fit into the mix.

The study is being done to identify ways to increase the ease, speed and convenience of commuting along the Amherst-Buffalo corridor, whether by light rail or by rapid transit bus routes.
