Whether you like your steak rare, medium rare or well done, most people can agree that Downtown Buffalo's restaurant scene is sizzling. And a new name is about to join the lineup.

SEAR, which is touted as a modern take on the traditional steakhouse, will take over the former home of Della Terra at the Avant on Delaware Avenue.

"SEAR will focus on using locally sourced ingredients and will also offer fresh seafood, a full dessert menu, extraordinary wine list and crafted cocktails that focus on flavor and high quality fixings," said a release from Pegula Sports and Entertainment, which is partnering with SEAR for marketing and branding.

Dave Schutte will serve as managing partner of SEAR. Schutte is the owner and operator of Creekview Restaurant in Williamsville and purchased Oliver's Restaurant in North Buffalo in 2013.

SEAR is expected to open this fall.

The Avant is a mixed-use building in the heart of Downtown Buffalo. In addition to the restaurant space, it is also home to an Embassy Suites by Hilton, Class A office space and 27 luxury condos.
