New move to keep downtown Buffalo traffic moving

After the gridlock drivers found in downtown Buffalo last weekend, Mayor Byron Brown has a new plan to keep things moving over the Labor Day weekend.

Canalside and other downtown locations have become so popular this summer that the city couldn't handle all the people and their vehicles.  The mayor says there will now be increased parking signage and additional traffic patrols at Canalside and the Erie Basin Marina beginning this long holiday weekend.

It's estimated about 70,000 people will attend events downtown this weekend, many of them going to the big Wing Festival at Coca Cola Field.

The mayor says this is the "new normal" due to the popularity of downtown and he's urging people to consider using public transportation as another means of cutting down on the congestion.
